These are a few of my Favorite Things for April
Well we are steamboating right through April, aren’t we? Time flies when you have to stop having fun soon, or whatever the carefree people say. After more than a year off from work after taking a voluntary paid leave, due to the pandemic, the friendly skies are once again calling my name, or if you ask me, screaming it. As of June 1, 2021, my job has stated that all of the flight attendants who took the leave, come back kicking and screaming happily return to the job they love. I’ll be back to flight attending with a smile that you won’t see behind a hot mask, in what is the new normal of aviation. All things considered, I suppose I am happy to be going back to work but don’t quote me on that once I actually get there. Don’t get me wrong, I really love and appreciate my job but I loved it so much more when I didn’t have to worry about people using masks as chin hammocks in lieu of their intended purpose but I digress! This post isn’t about that. This post is about things I am loving this month and that will probably be packed in my lunchbox when I do start flying again.
Primula Handheld Milk Frother Yay! I love to spend $6 on 16oz of liquid daily, said no person ever! I found myself becoming slightly obsessed with the Chai Tea Latte from Starbucks and while it may be cool to buy a hot beverage every morning while en route to work, I was coming right back home with said beverage after dropping my son off at school! Which meant if I had the wherewithal, I had time to make it myself. I didn’t know the first thing about what was in my cup of dreaminess but after a quick Google search, I knew that I could whip it up in no time. Ha! whip it, get it? Jajajajajajajaja! Ok sorry. But yes, essentially I just needed this frother thingy, which I randomly found in Kroger for $6. It has literally changed my life and is so easy to use. I use it daily. Game changer!
Wonderful, Sweet Chili Pistachios I love pistachios as a snack. I think it’s all the work you have to do to open that shell, to get to that tiny little prize, that is so fulfilling. Either way, when my husband brought these by accident, they served a purpose in my life. I seriously have to ration them out. I can’t just sit with the bag because half of it will be gone in the blink of an eye.
Snyder’s Twisted Pretzel Sticks Of course as a flight attendant, pretzels have always been a go-to snack. Those little mini bags have been my saving grace on long flights when I was starving or just looking for something light. I’m here to tell you, these aren’t your Mama’s pretzels. These are some don’t buy if you’re dieting, don’t ask because I’m not sharing, Ms. Jackson if you’re nasty, seasoned twisted goodness for your soul. I have had both the sour cream and onion and jalapeno flavors. While I prefer sour cream and onion, I would literally fight you for either. This is the only warning I’m giving you and it’s not only for your comfort, but it also for your safety. If you buy these, open them, pour some in a napkin, put the remainder of the bag away, and leave. Do not eat from the bag and do not stay in the vicinity of the bag or they will all be gone in one sitting. Don’t ask me how I know this, it’s classified.
Nutty and Fruitty, Chili Mango It’s not for everybody! However, something about this combination triggered a memory from childhood when I saw it in the grocery store. I don’t remember the name of the snack that I used to eat as a kid but once I had one piece I was transported back to my youth. As someone who is a huge proponent of a good salty/sweet combination, this flavorful and spicy burst of goodness, definitely hits the spot and it’s the first thing I get to have to myself. Jermaine and Chiefton are not fans of this snack and that’s fine by me. I usually have them for quite some time too because the bag comes with quite a few pieces and you can really only eat about 2 pieces at a time because they are so flavorful.
Arden’s Garden, Pineapple Apple Ginger I think I have saved the best for last. Listen! Listen! I just complained about $6 tea from Starbucks yet these little almost 16oz bottles of pure joy for the palette are a whopping $4 each. I don’t care, take my money Arden. If you’re not a fan of ginger, keep on walking, I ain’t talking to you anymore, a la Cece Peniston but for those who do, there’s enough of it to know it’s there without it being too overwhelming. I put these in the back of the refrigerator partly because I love it when they’re ice cold but mostly because I’m hoping my husband forgets they’re back there. They are so refreshing! Oh and this juice as a chaser for the Snyder’s Twisted Pretzel Sticks, slap your Mama! Ok don’t but know you would about this combo. Arden’s Garden has other flavors but for me, this is the goldmine.
If you have tried any of these products, let me know what you think in the comments!
P.S. If you read that CeCe Peniston line and then subsequently sang it, you are my people!
