As the saying goes when one door closes another opens and that was both actual and factual, while my home was being built. While choosing a front door, I just wasn't impressed with the styles I was being shown, within the allotted measurements provided by my builders. When I told them as much, they asked if I saw anything that I did like and I had but it was much bigger than the specifications given. My builder yelled, YOLO! (You only live once) Let's do the bigger door! Ok, so she didn't actually say "YOLO", that's just how I interpreted it though but they did make the modifications for my oversized 8-foot door, with built-in screen and there was no additional cost for it. Hooray! As it goes though, no good deed goes unpunished, at least not for my builders in this case because I started thinking of ways that I could improve and or change other doors within the house. Home Personlization With Items that Warm the Heart

Considering that home is where the heart is, it's only right that it be comprised of items that we love that are not only store bought but have true sentimental meaning. Photos, mementos and other chachkies that tell the stories of our lives and experiences are what truly makes a house a home. A few weeks ago, my son was up all night with a severe ear infection and a sore throat. It was so bad, that he spent most of the night screaming and writhing in pain, which of course makes you feel completely helpless as a parent. In my quest to find whatever I could to soothe him, I was continuously walking back and forth between his bedroom and mine. After procuring an ice pack, heating pad, children's Tylenol, making tea and a honey lemon concoction to alleviate his throat pain, I wished my husband was home to help me out but he was away on business. Organized Farmhouse Pantry

It’s Farmhouse Fri-yay! I am one who loves all things farmhouse, which is why my home, dubbed The Chateau, is all about farmhouse decor. When you’ve spent 15 months building a home, it needs a name and a bougie one so Le Chateau it is! While building my home, my builder brought up the idea of an open pantry just off the kitchen, to stay in line with the European farmhouse theme. It was essentially supposed to be unseen to guests unless I purposely directed them there. Sounded like a great idea, right? ***Slams hand down on the table like Judge Judy*** WROOOOONG! Considering that we remove our shoes in the house and ask our guests to do so as well, everyone typically enters our home thru the garage.
