Do it Your Damn Self (DIY) – Mama 'N Chief

Spring is right around the corner and as always I'm getting my annual spring cleaning and organizing in gear! I like to purge at springtime and when I could no longer find a suitable location in my home for this old Pottery Barn cart, I was tempted to just give it away or sell it. However, the refresh bug hit my spirit and I decided to give it a facelift. This post won't be very long because really the process was super simple and only required 5 supplies. I used gold spray paint, Recollections, scrapbook paper, and spray adhesive, both from  Michaels, a razor, and scissors. I took the bar cart outside and spray painted it gold and let it dry. I then did a second coat of gold spray paint and let it dry overnight. Because this bar cart had slats I used the razor to cut precise pieces of the scrapbook paper and used the scissors to cut any frayed edges. I then sprayed the wood with the spray adhesive and applied the individual pieces

Hey, hey, hey! We’ve almost made it to Valentine’s Day! And there’s just one thing I wanna say

Funny story alert. When we first built our home, I walked into Ethan Allen furniture store, looking for a couch. I had never been in an Ethan Allen and quickly realized this was a very upscale establishment. After speaking with a sales woman for a few minutes, I was bamboozled into an in home window treatment consultation. The nice lady came a week later and measured windows in only 3 rooms. We chose samples and decided on a combination of roman shades for some rooms with an accompaniment of drapes in others. A few days passed and she sent me a quote for the 3 rooms. It was $11,000. Needless to say, Ethan Allen did not provide window treatments in my home and the windows continue to be naked, to this day. Item #1,056 of things that I wish I knew before building a home:  window treatments are bloody expensive! I'm not British but "bloody" was the best word I can think of, to replace what I really want to say. With over 30 windows in

DIY projects, the absolute gift and the curse. You read a blog or watch a detailed Youtube video, with step by step instructions on how to accomplish this easy project. Easy, it's so easy! Yet, after you've spent your hard earned cash gathering all these supplies from the Dollar Tree, Family Dollar, Home Depot, Lowe's, Facebook MarketPlace and the neighborhood yard sale, your alleged uncomplicated DIY, has you sweating, frustrated and is the equivalent of Theo Huxtable's, Gordon Gartrell shirt on The Cosby Show. Hashtag big fail. That being said, you won't want to pull your hair out with this simple hat organizer. Now let's be clear, I had a moment where I was convinced this might be headed towards "Gartellifcation" but in the end it worked out and I'm hoping that the tips I give you will help to avoid the same issue I had. When I had my house built, I specifically asked to have a hat rack put in my closet. While it was working well for a while, my hat collection has matured

Don't ask me where I think I'm going in these sandals, that I've spent hours embellishing because the answer will likely be nowhere, at least not any time soon. I've recently had foot surgery that will probably keep me restricted to flats for the summer months but what I have been afforded is lots of time to do fun projects like this.   In my quest to find pretty FLAT sandals for summer, I came across many shoes that were jeweled, high heeled and expensive but I loved them! Now even though the girl loves a good shoe darling, not working while recovering from foot surgery and having a new home, that still has rooms to furnish, has put my shoe fetish on hold. However, that doesn't mean I can't fake it until I make it by buying less expensive shoes or revamping old ones. For this project, I used these Merona sandals that I purchased from Target last year, acrylic iridescent gems and E6000 glue from Michaels. I used the white version of the glue but I added a link
