Being born and raised in Brooklyn, New York has really taught me how to interact with people. If you didn’t speak up for yourself, you were likely outshined by the people who would. I have always had a big personality, sense of humor, and way with words. As my husband would say, “she loves to tell a story.” It’s part of the reason why after graduating from high school, I moved to Atlanta and attended Clark Atlanta University, where I received my degree in Radio/TV/Film. It was my hope that I would write or produce for a major television network but back then, the Atlanta television and film industry were not booming like they are today. Like most new graduates, the pursuit of actually working in the field you’ve spent four years learning about takes a backseat to real life and I eventually had to find a job. Fortunately, I stumbled upon an ad in the paper for a flight attendant position and have been doing something that I truly love since 2006. In 2008, I met my wonderful husband and we were married in 2011. We welcomed our son Chiefton aka The Chief in 2014. Throughout the years, my husband’s military career has moved us up and down the east coast but we were finally able to put down roots in a suburb south of Atlanta, in 2017.
I decided to name my blog Mama ‘N Chief as a fun play on words to Commander in Chief. I may not be running the country but I am most certainly the Chief’s commander at my house! This blog and my logo, pays homage to all the things I love, my man, my son, my home, and my career as a flight attendant. I am Mama to the Chief (7-year-old Chiefton), Mama who is witty and wise, Mama with a sharp tongue, traveling flight attendant Mama and dutiful military wife Mama. I’m a funny, sarcastic, caring, strong, sometimes weak, tell it like it is and lover of all things farmhouse Mama. I’m really just an all of the above type of Mama and I’m probably just like you.
Chiefton, my love, my heart, my everything, the proof that God’s blessings are real and abundant. He is my little superhero, which is why I placed a cape on his name in my logo. This kid is all of the things that little boys are made of. He’s funny, loving, affectionate, smart, rambunctious, silly, daring, and playful. He leaves an impression on everyone he meets and if they could ever forget his unique name, they’ll always remember his heart, his smile, and those eyes.
