7 Ways I Made my Bedroom Feel Like a Luxurious Hotel Suite – Mama 'N Chief

7 Ways I Made my Bedroom Feel Like a Luxurious Hotel Suite

When my employer offered voluntary leaves due to Covid, I jumped at the chance to take it. I opted to be off until 2022, however, I do miss the luxurious feel of some of the hotels I stayed in on layovers.

Being a flight attendant affords you the opportunity to sleep in some lovely hotel rooms. While not all are great, I have had the opportunity to stay in some really posh places.

There’s nothing better than working a long day and getting to stay in a beautiful room for the night. Because I really miss my hotel layovers and the peace and reset they afforded, I wanted to create that feel at home and I have to say, so far I really do get all the feels of a nice hotel room.

I still have a few more things that I’d like to add but here’s what I’ve done so far.

1. Splurged on the Bed

Ok so I literally stalked my bed, while my house was being built. I purchased it from a store called Arhaus in Atlanta and it was pretty pricey. I waited for a sale but it never came. I knew I wanted this bed to be the centerpiece of my room, so as my Mother says when you just have to pay the tab, “I paid the man the $2” and I don’t regret it. The olive green, velvet tufted headboard commands the room, the way I wanted it to. I don’t think that Arhaus makes this exact style anymore but a similar style can be found here.

2. Forgo Traditional Night Stands

Instead of purchasing run of the mill nightstands, I came across these side tables in Ross, for $69 each and knew they would be perfect. They really helped to accomplish the aesthetic I was going for, which was a chic hotel vibe.

3. Add a Chandelier

Typically, people do not opt for chandeliers in the bedroom but when I got the opportunity to purchase this Bonnington chandelier, which is from Restoration Hardware, from a neighbor, at a fraction and I do mean FRACTION, of its original price, I jumped at the chance. The light we hung there prior did nothing to define the sitting area and was really way too small for the space. This new light really added pizazz and was a true testament to one mans trash is another mans treasure! Now I paid $250 but if you’re feeling like a splurge, then be sure to click the link!

4. Hello Swanky Chairs

Ok, so I fought for my bedroom chairs. Not literally but in an online auction. Clearly they were as beautiful to someone else as they were to me but to the victor go the spoils. They not only look classy but are comfortable as well.

5. Oversized Floor Mirror

Word to the wise, if you order a 200lb mirror opt for it to be delivered to the room where it will reside. Since we were in the pandemic when I ordered this mirror, I decided to just have it delivered to my door, to eliminate delivery people coming in. Dumb. My husband and I almost died getting it up the 18 steps to the bedroom and he had some pretty choice words for me after but it was worth it because this beauty is stunning. You can purchase one similar here.

6. Elegant Bedding

Macy’s always comes through when I’m looking for nice bedding. This Cresmont Set by  J Queen New York, is no different. Unlike my bed, I was actually able to catch a really good sale and purchased this comforter set for under $200. The metallic sheen of it really compliments the other metallics in the room.

7. Expensive Curtains

Or curtains that look that part. I found these beauties on Amazon and though they were reasonably priced, they look rich. They’re well made and look really nice and I hung them with command hooks. If you’d like to know how I did it, read my previous blog, Hanging Curtains With Command Hooks. It’s simple and easy and doesn’t lock you in to one curtain style.

I really do enjoy, this sanctuary I’ve created and hope that it helps you to envision and create a luxurious bedroom suite of your own. Thanks for reading!
