May 2021 – Mama 'N Chief

I'm going to tell you right now, Father's Day is not an easy day for me, since losing my Dad. This year is particularly hard because both Father's Day and his birthday are on the same day, June 20th. My Dad would always insist on 2 gifts when this happened and I truly wish I could still give them to him.  Of all the gifts I ever gave to my Dad, he was most excited about receiving an iPod, way back when. The way he danced around the room holding his new gadget, is a joy I'll never forget. Although I don't have him here for physical gifts, I keep memories of him in my heart, knowing the best gift of all was our time together. Father's day is also difficult because my husband is not an easy person to shop for. He's a pretty simple guy and never really wants gifts or attention. Unfortunately, for him, that's just not the way I roll! My son and I like to give gifts! So I've compiled the

I’ve only had 4 all-female vacations in my life. The first one to Las Vegas was probably the most epic! Primarily because it was the first but also because 3 out of the 4 of us were young flight attendants, enjoying our free flight benefits. We flew to Vegas on standby and all 4 of us crammed into one room at a seedy hotel for $13 a night. We truly had the best time but since then my vacation style has evolved. For one, I no longer share a room with anyone besides my husband and son. I learned that lesson on girls trip #2 when my intoxicated friend threw up all over the bathroom on the last night of our stay and kindly went to sleep. Leaving me to use the hotel lobby restroom until we left that next morning because housekeeping was not available. Girls trip #3 taught me that vacationing with women you don’t know can prove to be disastrous and almost was but for the fact that I chose to remain positive and

Earlier this week I decided to treat myself to a post Mother's Day, spa day at Salt Med Spa in Peachtree City, Georgia. While this spa is small and quaint, I really appreciate the services it offers which include Halotherapy. Halotherapy is an alternative medicine that helps to relieve a host of ailments by spending allotted time breathing in salty air in man-made "salt caves." These rooms are covered from top to bottom and wall to wall with sea salt and a grainer salt used as the ground. It's almost as though you're walking in a sandpit but it's salt. Although I have tried halotherapy in the past, it wasn't on the itinerary for my spa day. I started with the not-so-pleasant Brazilian wax, then onto the sauna for 30 minutes before getting a massage and lastly the HydraFacial. Surprisingly, this would be my first time ever getting a professional facial. For many years I did not take very good care of my skin, nor did I have much of a regimen. However, as I've gotten

Hey friends, So often, important holidays sneak up on us and we aren't prepared. Just ask my husband, who's always burning rubber to the mall, to purchase last-minute holiday gifts. Since Mother's Day is rapidly approaching, I put together this quick guide of gifts that you can get on or before Sunday, if you have Amazon Prime.  The only item that would arrive after is the "Out of Office" tote but it's just so cute that I had to add it. These are some of my favorite things for May and are surely gifts Moms will love! Most of these things I own or have in my cart to purchase, so you know that I love them all. You'll need to act fast though and probably order by tonight!   Jewelry Handbags and Accessories Beauty Home

Ok friends, Spring is out here Sprangin' and making room for Summer. That means that very soon we will be living our best outdoor life. With the addition of the new pool, our outdoor experience has been taken up a notch, which means that we have a need for some new patio and pool pieces. The politically correct term for all that is, mo' money, mo' money, mo' money! As someone who likes to get the biggest bang for her buck and stans for a good deal, I'm going to have to slap you over the head with this not-so-fun fact. Good outdoor furniture will not be cheap and if it is, it isn't likely to last.  Full disclosure; I purchased an outdoor sofa two years ago. While searching, I was shocked at how expensive they were, so when I came across one that was considerably cheaper than what I had been seeing, I figured either fate or a good sale or both had shown up on my doorstep. Either way, it was in my
