April 2021 – Mama 'N Chief

Well we are steamboating right through April, aren't we? Time flies when you have to stop having fun soon, or whatever the carefree people say. After more than a year off from work after taking a voluntary paid leave, due to the pandemic, the friendly skies are once again calling my name, or if you ask me, screaming it. As of June 1, 2021, my job has stated that all of the flight attendants who took the leave, come back kicking and screaming happily return to the job they love.  I'll be back to flight attending with a smile that you won't see behind a hot mask, in what is the new normal of aviation. All things considered, I suppose I am happy to be going back to work but don't quote me on that once I actually get there. Don't get me wrong, I really love and appreciate my job but I loved it so much more when I didn't have to worry about people using masks as chin hammocks in lieu of their

As the saying goes when one door closes another opens and that was both actual and factual, while my home was being built. While choosing a front door, I just wasn't impressed with the styles I was being shown, within the allotted measurements provided by my builders. Hooray! As it goes though, no good deed goes unpunished, at least not for my builders in this case because I started thinking of ways that I could improve and or change other doors within the house. The primary bedroom was originally slated to have french doors but instead, I opted to

A month ago, my husband Jermaine went out of town to visit his parents for the weekend. It would be the first time since the pandemic that we would not be sleeping in the same bed. To be quite honest, I was a little excited. Don't get me wrong, my favorite thing to do at the end of the night is to climb in my bed with my husband. It's kind of like a home base for both of us. However, pre-pandemic we both traveled for a living and were afforded the opportunity to sleep on our own, stretch out like a starfish, and not be disturbed by the other's nighttime bathroom treks. I was looking forward to this. On the first night that my husband was gone, I got in bed and was luxuriating with my space and the remote, when I heard the familiar pitter-patter of Chiefton's 7-year-old size 5 feet stomping down the hall, blanket in tow. My son arrived at my bedside with his usual "let me in" stance and I was
