March 2021 – Mama 'N Chief

On this day 2 years ago, my father, Willis Milden, went to the hospital, with what we thought was severe flu symptoms and within twenty-four hours he died. 4 days prior, we were together, laughing, talking, and having lunch. Then in the blink of an eye, he was gone. It wasn't the flu. We were told that he had pneumonia and water on the lungs and he succumbed to respiratory failure, coupled with sepsis. Everything about how he died, resembled Covid but the experts would likely say that the timeline does not add up. Perhaps, I'm just grasping at straws, to give justification to a death that still feels so untimely. My Dad was vibrant and full of life and really had just begun living his best one. 7 months before he passed, we watched him walk across the stage and get his Master's Degree in psychology. Almost 3 years ago I wrote a blog post where I showcased my Organized Farmhouse Pantry. That system of mostly using baskets to house items in the pantry, worked well until my Mom moved in with us last year. Though my pantry, does not have a door, it is private and still unseen when someone is in my house. However, since we have our guests enter our home through the garage,

Spring is right around the corner and as always I'm getting my annual spring cleaning and organizing in gear! I like to purge at springtime and when I could no longer find a suitable location in my home for this old Pottery Barn cart, I was tempted to just give it away or sell it. However, the refresh bug hit my spirit and I decided to give it a facelift. This post won't be very long because really the process was super simple and only required 5 supplies. I used gold spray paint, Recollections, scrapbook paper, and spray adhesive, both from  Michaels, a razor, and scissors. I took the bar cart outside and spray painted it gold and let it dry. I then did a second coat of gold spray paint and let it dry overnight. Because this bar cart had slats I used the razor to cut precise pieces of the scrapbook paper and used the scissors to cut any frayed edges. I then sprayed the wood with the spray adhesive and applied the individual pieces
